What is Web 2.0?

This seminal article What is Web 2.0 written by Tim O'Reilly discusses his theory of the current state of the web in contrast to the first iteration Web 1.0. Many of his ideas are interesting and worth noting as the landscape of the web has transformed and continues to evolve. Especially of interest are his thoughts on "harnessing collective intelligence" and the "web as a platform".
